Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS)

The Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System, known as ACARS, is the air-to-ground digital data linked communication service to communicate with air traffic control, national aviation authorities and their own operations centers. At first ACARS relied exclusively on VHF (Very High Frequency) channels but more recently, data transmission have been added which have greatly enhanced its geographical coverage.
